Tears of Emotion
For some reason, weddings seem to bring out the emotions of those involved – I guess that's why they are so special to us. There is a huge amount of effort and attention to detail that goes into the big day and it is often hard not to let the stresses impact you in some way in the months, weeks or days leading up to it. I'm yet to meet a bride who has not had a bridezilla moment at some point – I can remember my own very well! The good news is that the odd tear before the day is a great way to let the emotions out. However, emotion sometimes comes when we least want it to!My personal favourite example of when this is useful was the bride who had just had some gorgeous false eye lashes fitted. Unfortunately the eye lashes, like a lot of what we do to prepare for the big day, had their price – you could not get them wet for 48 hours after they were attached! Luckily I had imparted my tip for countering tears... Gently tip your head back so that the tear drops cover your eye. If you catch it as it is hitting, you’ll find when you tip your head back the urge for the tears to fall will have passed. The eye lashes were saved, much to the relief of the bride.
On the day, more often than not, the emotion and tears are ones of joy. There's nothing like a good wedding to bring a tear to the eye. Tipping the head really helps maintains your composure, especially before the big reveal where you don't want to ruin your make up. On the subject of makeup – waterproof mascara is a must!
However, just like Jennifer Lopez's character in the Wedding Planner it does pay to be prepared for the worst, especially if you are a complete cry baby like me! My recommendation - have some nice embroidered hankies near by. Just make sure whoever has them knows to whip them out when required!
