- How many cameras do you recommend?
There are parts
of the day where only one camera is required i.e. during the
photography session, but other times like the ceremony and speeches we
recommend 2. With 2 cameras you can have different perspectives and
edit them together. This may include the father of the bride speech
where one camera films the father while the other films the couple, so
that the reactions of both are covered. Having 2 cameras makes the
finished DVD far more engaging when watching.
- How long do you film for?
Because no two weddings are the same, there's no standard answer to
that. It's important that we capture what's important to you, so we sit
down with you and work through that upfront. It's your day, so you get
to tell us what you want. Yours will be the only wedding I do that day
so for the Full Day package, I am there for as long or as little as you
require.
- When do we see the finished DVD?
I like to meet with the couple about 2 to 3 weeks after the wedding to
take them through the initial footage and to get feedback on the
creative process. Despite all the planning there are always unexpected
moments during the day, and so often it's these things that become the
favourite parts of the day.
As with all creative processes, it's important that I have a check
to make sure that I'm creatively taking things in the right direction.
At this meeting we assess the work required to finish, and advise you
of a time frame. I aim to turn it around about 2 to 3 weeks from that
meeting, but because I don't work to a formula and I'm creating a
custom DVD you just can't put an exact time frame on it.
- What format will the footage be in?
I film all footage in High Definition HDV format, and the footage is
presented to you on DVD disk(s). I shoot in High Definition HDV format
because HD television is starting to become mainstream, and this will
become more so over the next couple of years. Shooting in HD means down
the track, if you want the footage in a different format such as
Blu-Ray or HD DVD we will be able to supply you with a version in this
format.
- What is High Definition HDV?
High Definition HDV is a new technology that will become the norm for
future movies and television. Just like DVD replaced video, so too will
Blu-Ray replace standard DVD. The good news is that you can enjoy the
footage now, and in the future when the technology changes and becomes
affordable.
- We're getting married out of Auckland, will it cost extra?
Within Auckland travel is
included. If you are getting married out of Auckland, there will be
additional charges for travel and if required, accommodation. For weddings on the Coromandel only mileage will be charged, there will be no charges for accommodation. Mileage will be charged at 75c/km or we will charge you the cost
price for the flights. With accommodation we can either book this
ourselves, and on charge this to you at cost, or you are welcome to
arrange and pay for something yourself. This also applies to the
flights. Either way, this will be agreed up front so you know exactly
what is included.
- Music for the DVD?
You've probably got some special songs picked out for the big day, and we can use these on your DVD. We also have an extensive collection of over 10,000 songs as well which you can pick from. We have a non broadcast licence to use the music, so there are no legal or copyright issues with your DVD.
- We already have footage from our wedding and/or Honeymoon and we?d like to put it on DVD. Can you help?
Not a problem. We can work with what you've got and turn it into a customised DVD for you. This can be a great memento of your honeymoon and we can incorporate digital photos in the DVD as well.
- We're worried about cost and were wondering if a friend or family member could videotape our wedding?
If you're considering filming it yourselves and giving us the footage you can do that, however please be aware it takes longer to edit footage shot by other people, especially if they aren't a professional. More time is required to adjust the sound and the lighting and often an amateur videographer won't have the skills to frame shots appropriately, or because they are emotionally involved in the big day, they might miss a crucial bit.
From a cost perspective you won't actually save that much, and you won't be able to guarantee the quality. If you decide to invest in a wedding video, make sure you spend the money on what is going to give you what you want, a true record of your day.
- We already have a photographer and we're worried that having a videographer as well will get in the way?
Before we even get to the big day, I will sit down with you and discuss how the day will run. I'll get you to run through the layout of the ceremony and discuss options for where we can position the cameras. Both myself and my assistant videographer will be dressed smartly, in black and will make every effort to blend and stay out of the way. Usually there is both a videographer and photographer trying to capture the same moments at the same time, and it is vital to have a good working relationship with the photographer. Good communication with the celebrant or minister as well as with the bridal party is also vital.
