Garden wedding at Waipu

Glenn & Kellie

The days leading up to Kellie & Glenn's wedding were not encouraging for an ideal summers day - in fact they almost didn't have a marquee due to weather concerns! The marquee was able to be erected, and the day started well, although the weather kept teasing it looked like the rain would hold off and Kellie would get the garden wedding she had always dreamed of. However, just as they were ready to depart for the ceremony, the call came to say to hold for 20 minutes, as heavy rain had come down, and the ceremony was hastily being moved inside the marquee.

20 minutes later Kellie and bridesmaids departed, in the other love of Glenn's life his 1970 Ford Torino.

Kellie walked down the aisle accompanied by her father and brother, with Jesse Bradshaw singing 'Beautiful in my eyes', accompanied by guitarist Grete Fischer.

The ceremony was the opportunity for Kellie and Glenn to formally commit after 10 years together and they vowed to show their 2 year old daughter Yonnah-Marie what love and marriage was about.

After being showered by rose petals, the newly married couple celebrated with bubbles, followed by family photos in the garden. The bridal party then left for photos in and around Waipu.

On their return, dinner was followed by speeches, before Kellie and Glenn took to the dance floor for their first dance, 'Great Balls of Fire', sung by Adrian Keeling and accompanied by Mike Walker and Kellie's father, Pete McGregor.

Soon after, Glenn discovered his car had a flat back left tyre - possibly the result of the burnout that took place during the photo session.

For the DVD, Glenn and his car had their very own section with footage from throughout the day - this of course included the burnout! Another special section involved footage of the groomsmen erecting the canopy in the garden for the band. Sped up at 4 times, and set to The Benny Hill theme music.

The custom DVD menu including the car in burnout mode with the smoke coming off the tyres. In the swirling smoke different images from the day appear.

Initially Glenn didn't want a videographer, feeling it was a waste of money. He couldn't see the value and felt his mate could do it with his equipment. Although having a friend do it would have given them basic video footage, Kellie felt strongly about having a professional videographer and photographer right from when the wedding date was set. She is so glad she didn't budge and that she booked Jai Ivarrson Videography to do their wedding video. "Not only was Jai and his lovely wife Sarah wonderful people, they were so accommodating also. No stress, no problems... Once Glenn saw the footage, he soon changed his mind! He loved it and said to me that he is glad I stuck to my guns and insisted we had a professional videographer! He realises now how fantastic it is to have it to go back on and watch at our convenience and to show others that may have not been able to make it on the day. He did a burnout in our car and having it filmed was pretty special to Glenn. Just having the car at the wedding was special to him, so having it on video and in photos was great."

"It was really awesome, amazing and I was honored to have Jai and Sarah filming us for the day. They managed to get some perfect 'should have had a camera there' moments! I actually forgot they were there after about 1 hour, as they were not in our faces, which was great and due to that they managed to get some 'real' moments, rather than looking at the camera, staged ones. Jai and Sarah are fantastic, friendly and professional people and work in well with what's happening around them. Numerous people commented to me how lovely and friendly they were."

For Kellie it was surreal watching the footage. "I cried all over again! (as did Glenn)
I saw things that I didn't see on the day, like my brother and Dad’s face as we walked down the aisle, Yonnah, my daughter, running around in the background in her flower girl dress. Also seeing Glenn standing waiting for me as I was about the walk down the aisle was moving. Being able to see and hear Grete play for the guests before and after the ceremony was great too! I really wanted him to play at my wedding, and yet I never managed to sit down and enjoy his music - I was busy having photos taken and out with the guests - but I could enjoy it as it was on video! I also had guest singers - Jessie Bradshaw and Adrian Keeling with backing band Mike Walker and my Dad, Pete McGregor - and hearing them on video again was great. You kind of go deaf on the day too - so many things happening and so little time to soak it all in. I was still reeling at 9pm - the end of the day"

Watching the footage of herself, her brother and dad walking down the aisle, and seeing Glenn at the alter - waiting was touching for Kellie. "The ceremony itself was such a magical and emotionally charged one for everyone, that every time I watch it, I still cry. It was so beautiful seeing it from another perspective.” The footage of Yonnah running around in her Flower Girl dress was also special. Being only 2, she did not do the walk as hoped down the aisle with Kellie, "Even though it didn’t go quite according to plan, seeing her in the video was great. Its nice to be able to show that to her in years to come."

"The footage was fantastic and some parts I cannot remember, as the day went so fast and was such a blur. I look back on it and laugh at some of the silly things Glenn and I did."

Friends and family who have watched the DVD think its neat. "Its great to be able to watch it all over again. They love being able to see how the location shots went and what we got up to." says Kellie "For me its great to also see what happened on the grooms morning, how the venue was being setup, and what guests were doing while we were having photos."

"The DVD exceeded my expectations by far! The quality was superb and so well edited. The music and moments were captured wonderfully and put together fabulously. I cannot stress enough how fantastic it is to be able to re-live the perfect, magical day again and again! Its nice to be able to have something other than photos to share with your kids and grand children! You forget so easily and quickly how the day went and who was there, but with a video you get to relive it." says Kellie, "Its the one very best things I decided on doing!"
